Within Eaton’s EMEA Financial Organization, we have an opening for a

Manager Indirect Tax - Germany

Location: Germany, other EU locations possible

Primary function:

This position reports to the Director Indirect Tax EMEA and Americas (excl. US & Brazil) and has the main responsibility to manage all Eaton VAT related activities and flows in accordance with German VAT Law and regulations covering more than $215M of VAT as well as to manage potential risks pertaining to VAT accounting and reporting.

Preferable located in Germany. The position could be performed also from any other location (for example Vienna or Budapest) if a great candidate is found.

Job responsibilities:

 

  • Coordinate, manage and build technical VAT arguments to ensure timely response to queries from tax authorities, including VAT audits and VAT refund claims. Communicate with Tax Authorities until VAT audits and VAT refunds are closed.
  • Coordinate VAT reporting for Eaton businesses in Germany, with support of Eaton Operations and Eaton’s Indirect Tax Compliance Center of Excellence (COE) to ensure timely preparation and submission of all VAT returns, and VAT payments in line with Eaton VAT Controls Framework.
  • Review VAT calculations -prepared by Eaton’s Indirect Tax Compliance Center of Excellence (COE)-, backed-up with due documentation, and be able to submit VAT refund claims for Eaton entities and Eaton VAT registrations (where and when in VAT refundable positions).
  • Research, monitor and analyze indirect tax legislation and regulations, and changes in Eaton businesses, and assess and report potential impact(s).
  • Conduct VAT risk assessment in line with Eaton VAT Controls Framework, and report on monthly basis new findings and actions taken to mitigate risks pertaining to VAT accounting and reporting.
  • Help design, define, implement and test VAT aspects in various projects, being part of a project team or by providing active support to Eaton Project Manager(s) and other business functions.
  • Communicate constantly with Eaton Operations. Build excellent relationships with them.

 


Profil

We would like you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance/ Tax, professional accounting or tax qualification is considered a great asset
  • Practical experience in Indirect Tax (Value Added Tax) in Germany acquired in a manufacturing company similar to Eaton (preferred) or in a Big 4 / other Firm (expertise in compliance processes related to indirect taxes and practical experience with preparation and filing of tax returns, and VAT refund claims)
  • Experience in defending Indirect Tax Audits before the German Tax Authorities, as this position will be Eaton’s face before the German Tax Authorities
  • German fluent
  • Team Player: partners with more than 200 people located in Ops, VAT Pune COE and Global

Nice to have:

  • Experience in ERPs and Value Added Tax implementations in ERPs, tax technology, automation projects
  • Exposure to US GAAP or IFRS, Sarbanes Oxley or similar Internal Control procedures
  • Indirect Tax experience in other German speaking countries is desirable.
